Bill Smitrovich was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Anna and Stanley William Smitrovich. Bill graduated from Bridgeport University in 1972 with a master's degree. He is now married to Shaw Purnel, they have a son, Alexander, and a daughter, Maya Christina.
