Bill Paterson - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, music videos.
Bill was born in Glasgow, Scotland on June 3, 1945.
For three years he studied as a surveyor's apprentice, after which he entered the "Royal Academy of Music and Drama". He made his professional debut in 1967, where he starred opposite Leonardo Rossiter and Bertold Brecht in "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui" at the Glasgow City Theater. In 1970 Bill joined the youth theater. He worked there as an actor and assistant director until 1972 when he left to take part with Billy Connolly on The Great Northern Welly Boot Show at the Edinburgh Festival. Then Bill began to appear on TV more often than in the theater. His work on Licking Hitler was nominated for a BAFTA in 1978, and that year he starred in the English TV series as King James about William Shakespeare. 1982 he was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Prize for his role in Schweik Brecht's Play, about World War II at the National Theater. Throughout his career, Bill Paterson has worked in radio and voiceover for documentaries. The list of his works is very long. Bill is married to Hildegard Beechler and they have two children, a son and a daughter. They currently live in London.
