Sergey Bondarchuk was born in the village of Belozerka. The parents of the famous film director and actor were peasants. Most of my childhood was spent in Taganrog. Since 1959, he became a director of the Mosfilm film studio, and his debut was the drama The Fate of a Man. A distinctive feature of Bondarchuk was the staging of large-scale scenes of military battles, as was the case in the film epic War and Peace. It took the director two long years to work on this film, however, this elevated Bondarchuk's personality to the status of a cult. For the next few years, he combines his acting activities (Uncle Vanya, Steppe, Boris Godunov) with the filming of feature films (Waterloo, They Fought for the Motherland). At the end of his life, he began to lose authority, for a long time he tried to make a film based on Sholokhov's novel - Quiet Don, however, circumstances allowed only his son, Fyodor Bondarchuk, to finish this tape.
