Born February 3, 1914 - American actress and singer.
After the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Hollywood, where, when she came to the attention of the head of Universal Studios, Karl Lemmle, she made her film debut at the age of eight. Carlisle's acting career was promoted by her inclusion in the WAMPAS Baby Stars list in 1932. In the following years of the decade, the actress appeared in almost two dozen films, where her colleagues on the screen were such stars as Bing Crosby, Faye Ray and Ralph Bellamy. After her marriage to former actor James Blackley, who later became an executive producer at the film studio "20th Century Fox", Mary Carlisle began to act much less, and in 1943 she completely ended her acting career. From 1930 to 1943, Mary starred in 62 films. Seven years later, she found a new occupation for herself, becoming a manager at the Elizabeth Arden beauty salon in Beverly Hills. In 1942 she married the producer James Blackley, with whom she lived until his death in 2007. The couple had one child. The actress is currently the last star on the WAMPAS Baby Stars roster. Her contributions to the US film industry are starred on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, launched on February 8, 1960.
