Born January 29, 1940, California, USA is an American actress and screenwriter.
She attended Las Lomas High School and Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, California, where she began her acting career with a student film.
In film, she is best known for her role as Elaine Robinson in The Graduate (1967) starring Dustin Hoffman and her role as Etta Place in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
While filming Psycho (1978), Catherine met the actor Sam Elliott, whom she married in 1984. Katherine and Sam have a daughter, Cleo.
