Was born on November 25, 1942 in Riga, Latvia. After fleeing Riga, he lives first in Teltow near Berlin, and since 1954 in Praunheim, in the Frankfurt am Main region. In 1961 he studied at the trade school of art in Offenbach, and a year later - at the painting faculty of the Higher School of Art in West Berlin. In parallel, he attends various summer courses. In 1967 interrupts his studies, publishes the book "Men, Drugs and Death" (Manner, Rauschgift und der Tod). In the same year he shot his first short film. In 1969 he married actress Karla Aululu (real name Karla Egerer), divorced in 1971. During this period he discovered his homosexuality.
