Brooke was born and died in London, was educated at Dulwich College, and served as an officer in the army during World War I. He first appeared on stage in 1918, and began acting in films since 1919. Has starred in British films as well as in Hollywood.
One of the memorable roles was the role of partner Marlene Dietrich in the "Shanghai Express" (1932).
