Born in New York into a family of actors Adrienne Morrison and Richard Bennett. In addition to her, the family had two more daughters - Barbara and Joan, who also became actresses.
In her youth, she wanted to go to a monastery, but the craving for acting prevailed and she followed in the footsteps of her parents. She made her debut in 1916 in one of the silent films. For the next few years, Bennett continued to act in films until she married in 1925 and left the cinema. Her return to cinema took place after her divorce in 1929 and already in sound films. Constance Bennett achieved great success on the big screen in a short time, thanks to her roles in The Easiest Way (1931) and How Much Does Hollywood Cost? (1932) .
In the 1940s, the actress became less in demand on the big screen, but continued to work a lot in the theater and on the radio. At the same time, she made herself a great fortune through her own cosmetics and apparel company. Her last film role was the mother-in-law of the heroine Lana Turner in the drama "Madame X", released in 1966 after Constance Bennett's death from a cerebral hemorrhage in July 1965. As the wife of a brigadier general, the actress was buried at Arlington Cemetery in Washington. Her contribution to the development of the American film industry is marked with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which is located near her sister Joan Bennett's star.
