Ron Glass attended the University of Evansville where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Literature. Years later, he devoted himself to work on television.
Glass made his stage debut at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis before moving to Hollywood. His earliest television appearances were episodes of Sanford and Son in 1972, episodes of All in the Family in 1973, and episodes of Good Times in 1974. In 1975, he landed the role of Ron Harris on Barney Miller, which ran until 1982. The following season, Glass also starred with Demond Wilson on television in a short remake of Strange Couple, titled Strange New Couple .
In 1992 he starred in the short comedy Rhythm and Blues. In 1996, Ron starred as the troubled history teacher Ronald Felcher on the NBC sitcom Mr. Rhodes. In 1999, Glass appeared on an episode of the comedy "Friends" on NBC as lawyer for Ross Geller, Russell, and on The Cosby Show as father-in-law.
Since then, Ron has appeared in dozens of television series, including comedies such as Family Matters and Young Angel, in which he plays God’s cousin, Rod. He also starred in Star Trek: Voyager (episode The Nightingale) and the sci-fi series Firefly (2002), in which he played Derrial Booke, a Christian preacher with a mysterious past. He also starred in the film "Mission Serenity" (2005) .
Ron Glass also voiced Randy Carmichael for Nickelodeon in Kids Grown Up and Oh, Those Kids! and in the video game "Fable II". In 2008, he appeared in Welcome to Lakeview opposite Samuel L. Jackson and in Death at a Funeral (2010).
