Her father was a hunter and gunsmith. Louis Greene spotted Ida Cowerman, secretary to MGM president Victor Mayer. With Jean was signed, and in the period from 1932 to 1966 she played more than 70 roles. She also took part in productions on Broadway.
Jean first married when she was twenty years old, to journalist George MacDonald. The wedding took place on March 22, 1936. The marriage lasted four years. The couple divorced on January 22, 1940. A year later, on Valentine's Day, on February 14, she married radio commentator Douglas Dawson. The marriage broke up two years later. In August 1944, the actress married insurance agent Curtis Grotter. They lived together for five years. In 1950, Jean formalized the relationship for the last time. This time, Robert Lowery became her chosen one. Robert Lowery Hanks Jr. was born two years later. Gene and Robert filed for divorce in 1957.
Jean Parker died on November 30, 2005 of a stroke in one of the Los Angeles counties. Awarded with # 6670 Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
