She was born on December 3, 1991 in Sarasota, Florida, USA. While in high school, she started acting in the theater. At the age of 15, Shengli first tried herself as a model. She studied cultural anthropology at the University of California. In 2007 she moved to Los Angeles to develop her acting career.
In 2008, Shengli made her cameo debut on Zoe 101. In 2011 she starred in one of the main roles of the film "Punishment". In 2012, she starred in the film Snow White: Deadly Summer. In 2013 she starred in the movie The Conjuring. From 2014 to 2016 she starred in the TV series NCIS: New Orleans.
