Popularity came to McLean in 2005 after the release of the horror movie "Wolf Pit". The film received about thirty different awards and nominations and presented the cinema with another outstanding film villain - Mike Taylor performed by Australian actor John Jarrath, and McLean himself was nominated for the Australian Film Institute's award for best director and screenwriter. Eight years later, Greg McLean directed the sequel to Wolf's Pit.
