Born March 3, 1964 - Mexican and American model and actress.
Her mother, Maria Elena Cairo, was a psychotherapist, secretary, and real estate. Father, Raymond Herring, was a builder and farmer of Austrian-German origin. Laura's parents divorced in 1971.
The first 10 years of her life, Laura lived in Mexico City, then her family moved to the American city of San Antonio (Texas). At the age of 12, she was accidentally injured in a street shootout and wounded in the head. At the age of 16, she begged her family to let her go to study in Switzerland, at the prestigious private school Aiglon College. Returning to the States, she settled in El Paso (Texas) and began to participate in beauty pageants. She won the title of "Miss El Paso", and later - "Miss Texas". In 1985 she became the first Hispanic woman to receive the Miss USA crown. Included in the top ten at the Miss Universe pageant in 1985.
Laura spent the next year wandering Asia and Europe, doing social work in India. In Europe, she was represented in aristocratic circles and in 1987 she married Count Karl-Eduard von Bismarck-Schonhausen, great-great-grandson of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. They divorced in 1989, but remained friends, and Laura, meanwhile, retained the title of Countess von Bismarck-Schonhausen.
Harring studied drama at the London Academy of Fine Arts and also studied Latin dance, including Argentine tango.
