Kevin Eastman - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Writer, Actor, Producer.

Born May 30, 1962, Portland, Maine, USA - American comic book artist, publisher, writer.

Throughout his childhood he was influenced by comics, especially by Jack Kirby, and he drew incessantly - wherever possible. But the father was against his talents and the fact that his son went to art school.

But after graduating from high school, Kevin gave a damn about everyone, and entered the Portland Art School. Only because it was local and affordable. Although, the school was not at all aimed at training a comic book artist. On the contrary, they tried hard to retrain him. However, Eastman decided that he would get the most useful that the school could give and would remain unconvinced. After six months of study, he was unable to pay for the next semester and continued his art studies by attending evening classes and working part-time in a seafood restaurant during the day. Summer time, when there was a large influx of tourists, allowed him to save enough money to make it easier to hold out in winter. He continued to come to Maine to work part-time every summer, even after the first issue of the Turtles was released.

In 1977, when Kevin was still in high school, he discovered Heavy Metal magazine. Through the magazine, he learned about the people running small print publishers. He sent them his early work, so Kevin went to Comix Wave magazine, which became its first publisher. Eastman received $ 7 for his first printed work.

In 1981, while working at a seafood restaurant, Kevin met a waitress who was studying at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, near Northampton. The summer season came to an end, there was no money to continue studying, so he went with her. There Eastman learned about the monthly magazine Scat, which published comic strips by independent artists. Their office was in Northampton, so Kevin took his work, got on the bus, and went to introduce himself. But it turned out that the magazine was getting more money from local advertising than from publishing comics and changed its orientation.

In 1983, Eastman meets Peter Laird. In his spare time, along with his new friend, he was drawing comics, trying in vain to find a publisher for his work. In 1984, two self-taught artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird were sitting at Peter's house in front of the TV and, with nothing to do, drawing cartoons. On that memorable evening, Kevin drew an upright turtle with nunchucks in its paws and called the sketch "Ninja Turtle." In May 1984, Eastman and Laird published the black and white Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics with their own money. The comic was published in an edition of 3,000 copies and by 1985 it had been printed three times in an additional edition. He again turned to the publication of works by both established artists and beginners, which breathed new strength into the publication.

After two printings of the first issue, Kevin moved back to Portland to work. And Laird, along with his wife, who was now waiting for work, finally moved to Connecticut. Meanwhile, the popularity of the comic pushed them and Peter to continue, but they had to work three hundred miles from each other, calling and texting. Several times Kevin made grueling long trips to Peter's, they sat down and worked together, and then he drove back. However, after finishing work on the second issue, Kevin felt successful and moved to Connecticut.

In 1993, Peter Laird opposed further expansion of Studio Mirage, Eastman decided to take advantage of all the experience accumulated over the years and took part in the creation of Tundra Comics, known for very valuable comics from the most popular authors. However, Tundra expanded too rapidly, eventually causing it to close, and Eastman lost about $ 14 million. In 1994, Kevin founded the Words and Pictures Museum in Massachusetts, dedicated to comics and related topics.

In 2001, Peter Laird bought all intellectual property rights from retired Kevin Eastman, becoming the sole owner of the Turtle World. And then he began the release of a new series of comics.
