Marie Laforet - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Actress.
Born October 5, 1939, Soulac-sur-Mer, Gironde, France - Franco-Swiss singer and actress.
The career of the future singer began by chance. At the age of 19, Maitena - without preparation - took part in the "Birth of a Star" competition at the Europe no 1 radio station, replacing her sick sister. The chance turned out to be a victory in the competition. Soon, in 1963, Marie LaForet recorded a song that became her first real hit - "Les vendanges de l'amour" ("The time of the grape harvest of love") by Daniel Gerard. Loud success came to the singer at the age of 23. Her sudden popularity was due in large part to her special manner and style - completely different from the musical fashion of the 1960s. The songs of Marie LaForet had nothing to do with the cheerful dance style "ye-ye" that took over the French stage at that time .
In 1960, Laforet made her film debut. Together with her sister, Marie went to audition at the theater, where she was noticed by director Rene Clement, who was looking for a heroine for his new detective film "In the bright sun". Having played in this picture with Alain Delon, Laforet became a celebrity and got many roles in the 1960s. In 1961, she married Jean-Gabriel Albicocco, who shot her in some of his works, including the painting "The Golden-Eyed Girl", based on the novel of the same name by Balzac. After this film, the nickname of the heroine stuck to Laforte herself. In 1966, Marie LaForet performed for the first time her most popular song, “Manchester et Liverpool” (“Manchester and Liverpool”; music by Andre Popp, lyrics by Eddie Marne). In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Laforet recorded "Mon amour, mon ami" ("My love, my friend"; music by Andre Popp, lyrics by Eddie Marne), which was later performed in the film by Francois Ozon "8 women", " La tendresse "(" Tenderness "; music by Hubert Giraud, lyrics by Noel Roux)," Viens, viens "(" Come back, come back "; music and original English lyrics by Sven Linus, French translation by Ralph Berne) and several other famous songs. In 1978, the singer moved to Geneva, taking Swiss citizenship. For the past 30 years, Marie Laforet has hardly performed solo song concerts, devoting herself to cinema and theater. In 1999, Laforet triumphantly entered the theater as Maria Callas. In the early 1990s, she recorded a disc with songs of her own composition, was engaged in journalism. In 2005, after a 30-year hiatus, she returned to song concerts, performing on the stage of the Teatro Buff-Parisienne. In the Soviet Union, Marie Laforet became famous as a singer from the late 1960s - early 1970s thanks to audio publications in the magazine "Krugozor" and music radio broadcasts by Viktor Tatarsky. Popular in the USSR became "Manchester et Liverpool", "Viens, viens", "Mon amour, mon ami", "Ivan, Boris et moi" (later performed by Edita Piekha and Alla Ioshpe) and other international hits of Laforet. The melody of the song "Manchester et Liverpool", performed by the instrumental orchestra of Frank Pursel, accompanied the daily weather forecast on the television program "Time" from 1968 to February 1981 and from June 1990 to August 1991. Since 2015, the melody has been playing in the weather forecast on the Russian federal television channel OTR.
