Born November 3, 1953, nee Kathleen Sue Neil is an American actress.
At the age of five, she moved with her parents to St. Louis. She was educated at the University of Missouri, after which she taught at a school for disabled children for two years. There she became close to the headmaster of the school, Robert Capshaw, in 1976 she married him and took her husband's surname. In the same year, Kathleen gave birth to a daughter, Jessica, but divorced her husband four years later. Then Capshaw, dreaming of a career as an actress, moved to New York, where she began acting in television commercials and taking lessons in acting and vocals. In 1982, Capshaw made her film debut, starring in the romantic comedy A Little Sex, and on television in the drama Lost Children: A Mother's Story. In 1984, Capshaw was lucky. In the audition for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, she surpassed 120 applicants for the role of Willie Scott, a Shanghai nightclub singer and hero's companion Harrison Ford. In the mid-80s, Kate was quite in demand. Her partners on the silver screen were Dennis Quaid in the thriller Escape from Sleep (1984), Eddie Murphy and Dudley Moore in the comedy The Best Way to Protect (1984), Richard Gere in the drama The Force (1986), Jeroen Crabbe in the thriller Po nicknamed "Dancer" (1987) and Michael Douglas in the action movie Black Rain (1989). However, then she began to appear mainly in secondary roles (such, for example, was her participation in the 1994 melodrama "Love Story" with Warren Beatty and Annette Bening) .
Gradually, Capshaw began to pay less and less attention to her career. Her last film is the television drama Heading East, released in 2002.
