Born May 7, 1972, South Korea is an American film director and screenwriter of Korean descent.
The future director spent his childhood in Lakewood, California. She enjoyed watching martial arts films, playing toy cars and drawing.
Jennifer could sit in the kitchen for hours and copy her mother's drawings, or come up with exciting stories with her sisters, in order to later bring characters to life on paper.
Jennifer Yu earned her BA in Illustration Art from the University of California. Prior to her collaboration with DreamWorks, the artist worked at the animation studio of the HBO television channel, developing multi-part projects. She directed and designed all of the characters on the HBO animated series Spawn.
DreamWorks producer Jeffrey Katzenberg asked Jennifer Yu to direct Kung Fu Panda 2, the sequel to the acclaimed story of Po, a panda who became a master of the martial art of kung fu.
At first she did not show much interest in the proposal, but the producers insisted on her candidacy. As a result, in 2011 the premiere of the animated film took place. Its box office grossed more than six hundred and thirty-seven million dollars.
