Born October 12, 1949, Bronx, New York, USA - American novelist, screenwriter, actor, and producer.
Grew up in a social home in the Northeast Bronx. He graduated from Bronx High School of Science in 1967 and received his BA from Cornell University and his MA from Columbia University. He also completed his graduate work at Stanford University.
Price's first novel was The Wanderers (1974).
In 1999, he received the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award for Literature. He was admitted to the Academy in 2009.
Price's novels explore urban America in the late 20th century in a rough, realistic form that has earned him considerable literary acclaim. Several of his novels take place in a fictional city in northern New Jersey called Dempsey. In addition to writing novels, he writes screenplays for films and television series.
He often performs cameo roles in films for which he writes the scripts.
