In 1978 Rosalind graduated from Pomona College .
Rosalind made her film debut in 1970, playing the role of Linda Chang Wang in "Lucy, Laundress" of the television series Lucy's Here. In 1991, Chao played Lalu in A Thousand Gold Coins, for which she won the Western Heritage Awards (1992) for Best Theatrical Film. In total, she played in 108 films and television series.
