Born October 27, 1975, USA - American mountaineer, actor and screenwriter.
Studied at Carnegie Mellon University as a mechanical engineer. His future did not promise to be extreme. However, he soon became very interested in extreme sports, especially mountaineering and rock climbing. He left his job as a mechanical engineer at Intel in 2002 with the goal of climbing all Colorado's fourteen-thousanders (peaks over 14,000 feet) during the winter season.
In April 2003, at the age of 27, Aron found himself in an extremely difficult situation. In one of the Utah canyons (Blue John Canyon), the climber spent 5 days and 7 hours with his right hand clamped under a boulder. A certain supply of food helped Aaron live in the trap for several days, however, when food and water ran out, the question arose before Ralston - live or die. The climber found a way out: he cut off his own hand and, somehow coping with traumatic shock and the risk of severe blood loss, managed to walk many miles under the scorching sun. He wandered through the desert until he came across tourists from the Netherlands. They managed to call a rescue helicopter.
Aaron Ralston has become an extremely frequent guest on the pages of the press and television. He has appeared on numerous TV shows and magazine covers.
In September 2004, his autobiographical book Between a Rock and a Hard Place was published (127 hours. Between a rock and a hard place). In 2010, a feature film "127 Hours" was shot based on the book.
