Born June 16, 1925 - French writer.
Born in Paris and raised in Bavaria. His father was Andre Lefebvre, Marquis d'Ormesson, French ambassador to Brazil, and his uncle was Vladimir d'Ormesson (1888-1973), ambassador to the Vatican.
He was Secretary General of the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences of UNESCO and Director of the newspaper Le Figaro from 1974 to 1979
His novels are fully or partially autobiographical. In the novel "For God's sake," he tells with mild irony the story of his famous aristocratic family, their centuries-old family traditions, their ideas of honor and love, collisions with a new reality. October 18, 1973 elected a member of the French Academy. On the death of Claude Levi-Strauss on October 30, 2009, became Doyenne of the academy. In January 2016 he took part in the musical project Les Enfoires and the recording of the collective video clip Liberte (an anti-fascist song on the verses of Paul Eluard).
