Born February 13, 1934 - American actor.
After graduating from college, he entered Columbia University, graduating in 1955. His acting debut took place on the stage, and in 1961 he signed a contract with the film company Columbia Pictures, subsequently appearing in a number of obscure films at the beginning of the decade. He achieved his first success in 1965 after his role in Stanley Kramer's tragicomedy Ship of Fools. A year later, George Segal was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the drama "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" This was followed by successful roles in the films "The Qwilleran Memorandum" (1966), "Remagen Bridge" (1969), "Owl and the Cat" (1970), "Love" (1970), "Stolen Stone" (1972) and "Dick's Funny Adventures and Jane "(1977). In 1973, the actor was awarded the Golden Globe Award for his role in the romantic comedy "In Chic" .
In the 1980s, Segal was almost inactive, only occasionally appearing in small roles on television. In 1989, he returned to the big screen in the comedy Look Who Says. In the 1990s, he was remembered for his role in the television series Fashion Magazine, as well as for his appearances in the films For Our Guys (1991), Who Would Talk 3 (1993) and The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996 ). One of the last roles the actor played in the disaster film "2012", where he played an elderly musician Tony Delgatto. In 2013, Seagal played a major role in the ABC sitcom Goldbergs .
In addition to his acting career, George Segal is fond of playing the banjo, sometimes performing with jazz bands.
