His parents were divorced and raised by his grandparents. In 1933, Stanley graduated from New York University, and his mother, who works at the Paramount film studio, gave him a job as an assistant in the studio.

Soon he became a clerk, then an assistant screenwriter, editor, editor. Having passed the difficult road of the American dream, already during the Second World War he began to make propaganda anti-fascist films himself. The desire for independence, the desire not only to control, but also to control the plots of films made him become a director. He managed to make friends and the necessary connections, saved up money and immediately after the war began to work independently, founding his own company.

Having defended his independence during the years of McCarthyism, Kramer himself becomes a director and makes the film "Not Like a Stranger" and a series of highly social films, criticizing American society and questioning the individual's ability to defend freedom and humanity in a mad world of selfishness, indifference, cruelty and prejudice - "Those who did not bow their heads", "End of the World", "Reap the Storm", "Nuremberg Trials".

In 1963, Stanley Kramer turned to a rare comedy genre and directed This Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

Throughout his creative life, Kramer was distinguished by his attention to the complex problems of society. He made films about racism, Nazi war crimes, social justice, nuclear disaster.
