Black's track record includes feature-length films such as The Big Debates with Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker and The Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith. Todd was nominated for a Golden Globe and received the Stanley Kramer Award for The Big Debate. He received his first Stanley Cramer statuette in 2002 - for producing Denzel Washington's directorial debut "The Antoine Fischer Story" .
With the help of Escape Artists, Black produced Tony Scott's Dangerous Passengers of Train 123 opposite Denzel Washington and John Travolta; "Seven Lives" by Gabriel Muccino with Will Smith; and "The Sign" by Alex Proyas with Nicolas Cage. The producer's next promising project will be "Spider-Man 4," directed by Sam Raimi.
Black was born in Dallas and raised in Los Angeles. He graduated from the University of Southern California Department of Theater and began his career as Assistant Casting Director. In 1995, Black became president of Sony's Mandalay Entertainment Motion Picture Production. During this period, the studio released such films as "Donnie Brasco", "Seven Years in Tibet (1997)", "I Know What You Did Last Summer", "Les Miserables" and "Wildness" .
In January 2001, Black, along with his partner Jason Blumenthal, moved to the Steve Tisch Company - thus forming the independent financial company Escape Artists within the walls of Sony Pictures. Their first full-length project is The Legend of the Knight with Heath Ledger.
