He can switch to falsetto from his "natural" baritone without the usual falsetto break for singers. When The Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio wrote the song "Sherry" on the advice of producer Bob Crew to use this singer's ability, the band became very successful - in the late summer of 1962 "Sherry" topped the American national charts. Around this time (according to other sources, in 1964), Gaudio and Valli sealed an informal agreement with a handshake to always divide their income between themselves in half. Since then, they have worked together on many projects and for many decades now, regardless of which of them earns, this agreement has been respected.
In the mid-1960s, while remaining a member of the group, Valli began a solo career. He achieved triumph with the song "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", which in 1967 was nominated for a Grammy, and the single from it was certified gold for sales of more than a million copies. It remained the singer's only solo gold success until 1976, when My Eyes Adored You topped Billboard's Hot 100. And in 1978, the singer recorded the title song written by Barry Gibb for the musical film Grease. The single with her went platinum. In 1967 the singer was diagnosed with atherosclerosis. The doctors told him that sooner or later he would go deaf. At some point, he began to hear so badly that at concerts he could barely hear the music. His career could have come to an end, but in the late 1970s, almost miraculously, through a series of surgeries, his hearing was restored. Today, Frank Valli continues to record discs and give concerts.
