Musician Bernard Butler (full name Bernard Joseph Butler, born May 1, 1970) was born in the London borough of Stanford Hill into an Irish family.
In the music world, he is primarily known as one of the founders of the British group Suede (in the USA - The London Suede), named by the magazine “Melody Maker” the best group in Britain even before the release of their first single. In the first (1992 - 1994) line-up of Suede, Butler was the author of the music for songs from the first two albums of the group - "Suede" and "Dog Man Star". These two albums are considered by critics and fans to be the best in the band's career - they include such famous hits as “The Drowners”, “So Young”, “Metal Mickey”, “The Wild Ones”, “New Generation”, “We Are The Pigs ”, As well as many great songs that were released on singles and were not included in the album (for example,“ Insatiable One ”).
In 1994, while recording the Dog Man Star album, Bernard Butler left the band due to disagreements with Suede leader and vocalist Brett Anderson.
After leaving Suede until 1997, Butler collaborated with various musicians. The most notable development was the project with the participation of David McAlmont McAlmont & Butler with the album “The Sound of McAlmont & Butler”, which contained the singles “Yes” and “You Do”.
