American character actress. Although Ann Dowd has appeared in over sixty films and TV series throughout her career, her breakthrough role was in the 2012 thriller Obedience Experiment, which earned her the National Council of Film Critics Award and several other awards, an Independent Spirit nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and a number of critics noted her as one of the top Oscar nominees for Best Supporting Actress, although she ultimately missed the shortlist.
