Born June 8, 1967, Silver Spring, Maryland, USA is an American actor, screenwriter and producer.

He received an excellent education, graduating in 1985 from Mamaroneck High School, and then - in 1989 - received a diploma from Columbia University with a specialization in English. However, a successful student was always attracted by something else - he had long dreamed of becoming an actor. So, after a short hesitation, Dan still makes an attempt to get on stage, and then on television.

He made his debut in 1991 in Terry Gilliam's Oscar-winning film The Fisher King. This was followed in 1992 by work in the comedy by Joan Micklin Silver "Big Girls Don't Cry ... They Get Even".

In 1997, Dan Futterman finds himself in the comedy melodrama Shooting Fish by British director Stefan Schwartz, which tells how two orphanages make their money by playing on the greed of the rich. In 1998, Futterman partnered with Mickey Rourke in the television drama Thicker Than Blood, directed by Richard Pearce.

In 2006, the Scripter Award jury, after a week-long timeout, also recognized the script for the film "Capote", written by Gerald Clarke and Dan Futterman, as the winner. The film is based on a plot from the life of the famous writer Truman Capote, who in 1959 caught the eye of a newspaper article that drastically changed both his life and his literary career.
