Born October 13, 1939 - American actress.
She made her stage debut in the early 1960s, earning her first success as Honey in Edward Albee's Broadway production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in 1962, for which the aspiring actress received a Tony nomination. Dillon made her film debut in 1969 in the romantic comedy April Madness.
In 1977, she was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Debutante for her role as Memphis Sue in Woody Guthrie's biographical drama About the Life of Folxinger Woody Guthrie. A year later, Melinda Dillon received an Academy Award nomination for her role as Gillian Guiler, mother of an alien abducted child, in Steven Spielberg's science fiction film, Close Encounters of the Third Degree.
