Born October 23, 1964, Santa Monica, California is an American musician, bass player, actor, screenwriter and producer of Mexican descent.

Joining Suicidal Tendencies (1989), Robert brought a funky twist to the band's sound, especially on the Lights ... Camera ... Revolution albums! and The Art of Rebellion. Rob ended up infecting Suicidal Tendencies leader Mike Muir with funk music and the two formed Infectious Grooves to play more funk oriented music.

In the late nineties, Robert joins Ozzy Osbourne's group.

On February 24, 2003 Trujillo becomes the bassist for Metallica. The process of auditioning and accepting Rob into the band is shown in the documentary Some Kind of Monster.

Rob often moves around the stage in a kind of "crab" gait with a low-lying guitar, makes terrible grimaces, jokes, pretends something with smooth hand movements. Almost always performs in Bermuda shorts. At the beginning of his career in Metallica, Rob did not sing along much, but over time he became the main backing vocals of the group.
