Born March 11, 1960, Antibes, France - French film director, screenwriter and producer.

As a teenager, he made films about samurai and kung fu and around 1980 began publishing the magazine "Rhesus Zero" for fans of science fiction, kung fu and films of other genres. In 1980, Hans studied at the French film school Idhec (Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinematopraphiques) and directed the short film Silver Slime, dedicated to Mario Bravo, which was well received at the 1982 Paris Festival.

In 1982 he also founded Starfix magazine and has supported the work of directors such as David Cronenberg, Dario Argento, Russell Mulcahy, David Lynch, John Carpenter and Sergio Leone. In 1994 he wrote and directed an episode of The Necronomicon based on H. F. Lovecraft, which attracted the attention of Japanese film investors. The episode, directed by Hans, Hotel of the Drowned, convinced investors that he would be best suited to direct the adaptation of the popular manga and anime series Crying Freeman. Crying Freeman won the Audience Award at the Swedish Fantastic Film Festival in 1995 and was nominated for an International Fantasy Film Award at the Fantasporto Festival in 1996.

Hans then made a video collection "HK" dedicated to Hong Kong films. After that, he worked for two years on a free adaptation of Jules Verne's novel “20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea”, after which he began filming “The Brotherhood of the Wolf” (“Le Pacte des loups”) about the Gevodan monster - an unknown beast that killed more than a hundred people in France at the end of the 18th century. Released in 2001, The Brotherhood of the Wolf was nominated in 2002 for numerous Saturn Awards from the Academy of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror Films, including Best Director, Golden Grand Prix for Best European fantasy film ”at the Brussels International Film Festival in 2002 and won the“ Silver Grand Prix for Best European Fantasy Film ”at the 2001 Catalan International Film Festival in Sitges (Spain), and was also nominated for "Best Film" at the same festival.
