Born December 19, 1970 in the Bronx. Grew up and was raised in Rochester and Jamaica, graduated from high school "Pittsford Mendon High School".
Tyson is half African, half Asian: one of his grandmothers is from Ghana, the other is Chinese, and his relatives include people from Jamaica and Panamanians. In 1992, photographs of Beckford appeared on the pages of the hip-hop edition "The Source". The young man's striking appearance attracted the attention of numerous modeling agencies, and in 1993 Tyson signed a contract with the "Polo Ralph Lauren" corporation, becoming a leading model in an advertising campaign for a sportswear line.
