Anna Maria Mazzini, known under the pseudonym Mina, was born in Busto Arsizio on March 25, 1940. Her family consisted of her father, Giacomo, who worked as an industrial chemist, Regina's mother, and her younger brother, Alfredo. In 1943, they moved to Cremona, where Anna Maria then began to study accounting, which, however, she left in her fourth year, because in the meantime she began to get involved in music, listening mainly to rock and roll records that penetrated from the USA into Italy just in those years. She even started a team called the Happy Boys.
