Soviet radio commentator, sports journalist and actor Vadim Sinyavsky was born in Smolensk. He graduated from the local Institute of Physical Education, then moved to Moscow. He was the owner of perfect hearing, so in his youth he held the position of a pianist in one of the capital's theaters.

Since 1925, Sinyavsky devoted almost fifty years to the All-Union Radio, where he got a job as a commentator. According to some reports, in 1929 Vadim was the presenter of the radio broadcast of a football match between the Moscow and Kiev teams. However, the authenticity of this fact has not been confirmed. In the same year, Sinyavsky received a membership in the staff of the radio committee and became an instructor in physical education broadcasting.

Vadim was the author and presenter of the first gymnastics lesson held on the All-Union Radio. In 1935, Sinyavsky commented on the meeting between the football teams of Turkey and the USSR. During the war, Vadim conducted radio broadcasts directly from the front. In 1941, Sinyavsky commented on the parade, from which the first detachments of Soviet troops were sent to the front line. With his participation, radio reports from Kursk Bulge and Stalingrad were broadcast during the surrender of the Germans.

Working as a war correspondent, Sinyavsky covered events for Poslednie Izvestiya on All-Union Radio. During the defense of Sevastopol, Vadim was seriously wounded; he returned to professional activity only in 1944.
