Soviet radio commentator, sports journalist and actor Vadim Sinyavsky was born in Smolensk. He graduated from the local Institute of Physical Education, then moved to Moscow. He was the owner of perfect hearing, so in his youth he held the position of a pianist in one of the capital's theaters.

Since 1925, Sinyavsky devoted almost fifty years to the All-Union Radio, where he got a job as a commentator. Working as a war correspondent, Sinyavsky covered events for Poslednie Izvestiya on All-Union Radio. During the defense of Sevastopol, Vadim was seriously wounded; he returned to professional activity only in 1944.
