She was born in August 1981 in Banff, Scotland. While at school, she sang and played keyboards in The Residents for three years, and then sang in the sacred music choir Love and Joy and in the group without a name. Sandy once wrote a drip single I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) and in just one week it was at the top of the list of world hits. In the spring of 2006, Sandy and her band, which includes drummer Craig Connet and guitarist Marcus Bonfanti, used a conventional camera to broadcast their performances on the Internet for 21 nights. By the time this series of home concerts ended, the audience numbered about 70,000 people around the world, including the United States and Russia. These events were followed by a contract with the record company RCA and the release of the album Smile ... It Confuses People. Considering all the backstory, this inspiring debut made a lot of noise. And it is not surprising: the girl who wrote songs at home became famous almost overnight.
