Member of the Great Patriotic War, was wounded. He served in theaters in Rivne and Chernigov in 1942. He graduated from the acting (1948) and directing (1949) faculties of the Kiev Institute of Theater Arts named after Karpenko-Kary. Anatoly Slesareno took his directorial practice on the set of the film "Taras Shevchenko" (1951). Directorial debut - the film "Burn, My Star" (1957). In 1960, after the tragic death of actress Inna Burduchenko during the filming of the film "Nobody loved so much", he was suspended from filming, tried and sentenced to four years in prison. Two years later he was released under an amnesty. He returned to the profession as a documentary filmmaker. He directed the films "The Heart of a Soldier", "Romenskaya Madonna", "I Belong to Humanity", "General Petrov", "Hot Breath", etc. Occasionally shot feature films. Author of the books "Continuation of Joy" (1981), "Novels of a Heroic Deed" (1983), "100 Poems of Love". Gruvemuvestart Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1976).
