Born on October 7, 1938 in Bucharest, where his father owned a fairly large fertilizer company - the family was quite wealthy. However, World War II broke out and a nightmare began - everything was taken away from his father, and Marina was expelled from school for his Jewish origin and subjected to severe repression. Nevertheless, everyone survived the war, and in 1947, my father decided to move to France - first to Nice, and then to Paris. Young Karmits immediately found himself in the ranks of the Communist Party, from where he was, however, expelled for revisionism (or rather, for calls for an armed struggle against capitalism). Becoming a bachelor's degree, Marin enters the IDHEC film school, and since the 57th year has been actively working on film sets, learning (and using the term of the then surging "new wave" - ??unlearning) the main cinematographic professions. After working with Agnes Varda (" Outraged by the distribution policy of the majors, Karmitz created his own distribution network - three cinemas not far from the Place de la Bastille - where he showed films from all over the world (including many Soviet ones), which were abandoned by the "capitalist" distributors. The idea turned out to be successful (and commercially viable) - at the moment, in Paris alone, the Karmitsa network includes more than sixty rooms. Since the 79th year, Karmits has also started producing, naturally, with Godard's film "Save Who Can (Life)". 1979 to 1986 he produces 15 films, many of which are highlighted (Goodbye Children by Louis Malle, Life is a Long Calm River by Etienne Chatiyes). Karmitz worked with Chabrol, Rene, Kieslevsky, the Taviani brothers, Angelopoulos, Doyon, Lungin, Kiarostami and other notable directors, always confirming their reputation as an extremely "quality" producer. In addition, Karmitz is engaged in the wide distribution of films, the rights to which were purchased by his company (for example, paintings by Truffaut and Chaplin), on video and DVD. Today, Marin Karmits is perhaps the most interesting producer in France, open, at the same time, to the whole world.
