German director and screenwriter Tom Tykwer, known worldwide for his work on such films as Cloud Atlas, Perfume and Run, Lola, Run, was born in 1965 in Wuppertal. Cinema attracted Tom from childhood - as a boy, he filmed various scenes with an amateur camera, and from the age of eleven he got a job in a cinema.
