Valentin Podpomogov, known as a Soviet actor, film director, artist and animator, was born on April 29, 1924 in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. His family was multinational - his father was a native Ukrainian, and his mother was Armenian. The son loved his mother very much and was extremely attached to her. That is why Podpomogov himself said that he was a real Armenian. His childhood fell on a difficult wartime for everyone. The boy grew up in a time of general poverty and anxiety. From early childhood, parents noticed and encouraged their son's extraordinary talent for drawing, his intelligence and wisdom beyond his years. Already at the age of sixteen, Valentin was hired as a production designer for fictional films in the famous "Armenfilm" company.
How many years Valentin Podpomogov worked at Armenfilm is not known exactly. But the fact that he remained a significant figure for this film studio until the end of his days is undeniable. It was Valentin Georgievich who in 1967 became one of the founders of the most successful workshop - animation. He became the person who revived the Armenian animated cinema. In addition to success in cartoons, Valentin Podpomogov was a successful artist. His works are still kept in the Yerevan Museum of Contemporary Armenian Art. In addition, his paintings are in the homes of almost all the largest collectors of Armenian painting. Valentin was a very open person, the soul of the company, among his friends were leading actors, directors, scientists, just interesting people. He was loved and respected by absolutely everyone. The last film with Valentin Podpomogov Where are you going, soldier ?, released in 1985, it was the end of his career. On July 18, 1998, Valentin Georgievich Podpomogov passed away. Buried in Yerevan.
