Born February 28, 1964, Novokuznetsk - Russian singer, performer of Russian folk songs, romances and author's songs, composer.
She studied at a music school, entered the music school in Leningrad at the piano department. During her studies, Evgenia Smolyaninova managed to work at the Youth Palace, where in 1982 her first performance as a singer took place, at the Vyacheslav Polunin Theater in the play "Pictures at an Exhibition" to music by M. Musorgsky and in the play "Mumu" of the Maly Drama Theater. During summer trips with classmates on folklore expeditions, she was collecting Russian folklore in the northern regions of Russia. Also at that time, Evgenia Smolyaninova was studying the Leningrad musical archives, thanks to which she discovered and gave a second life to a number of forgotten urban romances and songs of the 19th - early 20th centuries. An important milestone in the musical fate of Evgenia Smolyaninova was her acquaintance with the songs of the peasant singer, keeper of Russian songs Olga Fedoseevna Sergeeva, which were recorded on an audio cassette that accidentally fell into Smolyaninova's hands. Olga Fedoseevna was also known for having sung in Andrei Tarkovsky's film Nostalgia. After a while, Smolyaninova was able to hear these songs in live performance: Olga Fedoseevna was invited to Leningrad and sang folk songs at the Youth Palace.
In 1986, Evgenia Smolyaninova performed for the first time in front of a television audience, and a year later, in the film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Maxim Gorky "The Life of Klim Samgin" (directed by V. Titov), ??she voiced the film's heroine, singer Dunyasha.
The romance of the Russian composer and poet Yevgeny Yuriev "In the Moonlight", performed in the film "Entrance to the Labyrinth" (1989), was widely known in the performance of E. Smolyaninova.
