Born May 26, 1908 in Moscow.
As a result of difficult family circumstances (father's departure from the family, mother's illness), from the age of eleven, he wandered, ended up in a colony of "difficult" children. A mobile theater that happened to meet on his way gave the boy a new landmark in life. At first he was an actor, having experienced a huge influence on the personality and work of the famous theatrical figure P.P. Gaideburov, who organized the First Mobile Theater in Petrograd and a school with it; then - the director of "Living Newspapers" in Leningrad and the head of the theater in "Agitvagon" (1928-1929). At the same time he began to try himself in drama (the first play staged by professional theaters - Class, 1930).
