One of the most famous Russian composers Mikhail Glinka was born in Novospasskoye - a village near Smolensk - June 1, 1804, according to the old style - May 20. On his father's estate, he lived with his mother and grandmother, who raised him until the age of six. Mikhail Glinka was already mastering the piano at the age of ten. After graduating from the boarding house, Mikhail Glinka spends a year at the family estate, writing small plays and romances, and in 1824 he began serving in the railway administration. Four years later, he leaves her and in 1830, referring to poor health, goes to Europe, where he comprehends the musical trends of Italy, Austria, then Germany, but at the same time his dream is to create a Russian, deeply national opera. The death of his father requires a return to Russia. Glinka chooses Petersburg as his place of residence, closely communicates with Zhukovsky, who is visited by Gogol and Vyazemsky, as well as Odoevsky, with whom he will be linked by friendship. Glinka's first opera Life for the Tsar - the current title Ivan Susanin - was greeted with enthusiasm in 1836. It is known how many years Mikhail Glinka created the opera Ruslan and Lyudmila - about five. After its premiere, he visited Europe again: gave a concert in Paris, after visiting Spain he wrote two plays. From 1851 to 1856, the composer alternated living in Russia and traveling abroad. Taras Bulba's symphony was started in France, but it was not completed. Glinka's death occurred in 1857 from a sudden illness in Berlin, his remains are buried in the Tikhvin cemetery in St. Petersburg.
