Soviet director, screenwriter.
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1973) .
In 1930 he graduated from the film department of the Higher State Courses of Art History at the Leningrad Institute of Art History.
In 1930-1931, he was an assistant in the course of film games at the Leningrad College of Performing Arts. From 1931 he worked at the Lenfilm cinema in the groups of Sergei Gerasimov and Grigory Roshal, directed a number of documentaries and feature films.
