Nia Vardalos, nee Antonia Eugenia Vardalos, became famous after starring in the film “My Big Greek Wedding”, for which she wrote an autobiographical script. In 2003, for this film, Vardalos was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Nia Vardalos also starred in the comedy television series of the same name. In the comedy "Connie and Carla" (2004), also filmed according to her script, she co-starred with Toni Collette.
