Igor Shulzhenko was born in 1958 in Minsk. The Shulzhenko family had nothing to do with art: his father and mother worked as designers in the foundry, so the young man did not even dream of the stage and the cinema.
The idea to try himself as an artist belonged to his father. He became the initiator and pushed Igor to go to screen tests, and suddenly he gets lucky. And still lucky. We needed actors for filming the adventure film Dirk. The director liked the boy, and among many candidates he was chosen. Mother was categorically against it, but Igor did not refuse to shoot. The young man was fourteen years old, a rather difficult and unpredictable transitional age, he lived mainly on expeditions.
In 1973 a new film was released with Igor Shulzhenko - Kortik. It cannot be said that the shooting in the film definitely benefited the young man: he almost abandoned school, what did he care about classes if he constantly disappeared on the set, which took place not in his native Minsk, but in Vilnius or Grodno. Of course, the organizers of the filming process had attempts to organize remote or at least partial training for young talents, according to an individual schedule, but this idea also failed.
In the same year, the second part of the adventure trilogy called The Bronze Bird is released. This was the last film with Igor Shulzhenko.
After leaving school, the failed actor entered the Radio Engineering Institute, but dropped out a year later, then went to the Polytechnic, but he did not finish it either. Igor's motto was: it is much better and more useful to be a good worker than a bad actor, and he followed this principle. And even though he worked as a tiler all his life, moviegoers will forever remember him as the mischievous pioneer Slavka Eldarov.
