She was born in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Donetsk region on May 10, 1932.
She graduated from the Chelyabinsk Pedagogical Institute, worked at school as a teacher of Russian language and literature, then in a newspaper.
Nationwide fame came to Galina Shcherbakova after the publication of her story "You never dreamed of", published in the magazine "Youth". A touching love story of two high school students shocked readers. Soon the story was filmed by director Ilya Fraz.
Much time has passed since then, but the writer has remained true to her topic. She penned the books "The Town Remained on the Right", "Anatomy of a Divorce", "The Wall", "The Door to Another's Life", "Desperate Autumn", "Tangerine Year", "Women in a Game without Rules", "At the Feet of Recumbent Women" , "Mitya's Love", "Avocado Stone", "Army of Lovers" and others.
She passed away on March 23, 2010 in Moscow. She was buried at the Miusskoye cemetery in the Maryina Roshcha area.
