Leonid Davydovich Okhlupin was born on April 27, in 1915 in the city of Polevskoy, which is located in the Sverdlovsk region. Even as a child, he was interested in theatrical art, so he performed in his native and neighboring villages, showing his acting talent in amateur performances. Sometimes I had to get to other villages on skis, if in winter, or just walk a few kilometers on foot. At the age of 16, he became more seriously interested in theater, joining a troupe of nomadic actors, and already in 1932 he was admitted to the drama theater, according to the results of a successfully passed exam. After working there for some time in the second cast, the actor was invited to the Sverdlovsk Drama Theater. At the beginning of his career, Okhlupin spoke in a manner typical of all Urals, "okay" and "chokai", but despite this, he perfectly got used to the images of his heroes, fully living them. Throughout his career, Leonid Okhlupin played about 200 roles, among which these were characters from the repertoire of Dostoevsky, Turgenev, Bernard Shaw, Hauptmann, Lev Tolstoy and Chekhov.

The actor took part in many theatrical works, and the roles of Leonid Okhlupin were always played brilliantly. So, at one time he played Alfred Doolittle in Pygmalion, Korytov in Happiness P. Pavlenko, Pushkin's Pimen in Boris Godunov, Budyonny staged in the steppes of Ukraine by A. Korneichuk, Shevchuk in Strong in spirit D. Medvedev and A. Grebnev, Kuzmich in Kalinova Grove of A. Korneichuk, Efimushkin in the Road of the First A. Salynsky.

In addition, Leonid Davidovich played Lenin many times in various theatrical productions, for example, Unforgettable 1919, which was written by Vishnevsky, Living Flowers, Kremlin Chimes, the Third Pathetic, the author of which is Pogodin, and M. For such a solid work in the theater, Okhlupin was recognized as an Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1956, and 15 years later already as a People's Artist of the RSFSR.

In 1963-1983 he served as chairman of the WTO, was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, the medal For Valorous Labor in the Great Patriotic War.

Leonid Davydovich was very fond of his family, especially his granddaughter and daughter, was an economic and caring father, among those around him he was known as a wise, executive, conservative and hardworking person. Therefore, it is not surprising that he was appointed an Honorary Citizen of Sverdlovsk.

In 1976, a film with Leonid Okhlupin called Obelisk was released. This is a military drama based on the novel of the same name by Vasil Bykov, where the actor, by the way, starred with his son, Igor Okhlupin. There they played a young and already aged Timofey Tkachuk, a teacher who was of great importance in the plot of the film.

At the age of 68, on April 25, 1983, Leonid Davydovich passed away, leaving behind a bright memory of his colleagues, relatives and admirers of his talent.
