Julia Solntseva - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips.
Born on August 7, 1901 in Moscow to the family of Ippolit Peresvetov and Valentina Timokhina. The events of 1905 destroyed the well-being of the family in an instant. Father died in a disaster at a sugar factory. Unable to withstand the shocks, my mother died. Five-year-old Julia remained in the care of her grandparents. We moved to Petersburg, where they transferred our grandfather. My grandmother and I sewed women's clothing for sale. This made it possible for Yulia to study at the gymnasium. Here she became interested in theater, began to play in an amateur studio. Soon one filmmaker drew attention to her and she played a small role of a servant in his film. For the first fee I could only buy a loaf of bread. She studied at the Faculty of History and Philology of Moscow University, in 1922 she graduated from the Moscow Institute of Musical Drama. Yulia Solntseva began her almost 70-year career in art as a very young actress of the Moscow Chamber Theater. And her initial role in the movie was the mysterious Aelita in the film of the same name by Y. Protazanov, who captivated the audience with her grace and beauty, courage and imperiousness. In the same 1924, she appeared on the screens in the image of Zina Vesenina, a cigarette holder from Mosselprom, who, according to one critic who applied a Russian proverb to her, was "both white with her face and cheerful with her eyes." After one after another, followed by films with her participation: "Leon Couturier" (Bella), "Eyes That Have Seen" (Rose), "The Tempest" (Katya), "Two Women" (Krekshina), "Jimmy Higgins" (Ellen) ... And there was also the film "Earth", in which she played a small role of Opanas's daughter. Sweetheart famous masters of film directing invited the black-eyed beauty actress to participate in new and new productions. She received very flattering invitations from foreign, mainly American, filmmakers. But - there was "Earth" and there was Alexander Dovzhenko, who directed this film. Meeting with Dovzhenko on the set of the film "The Tempest" changed the fate of the young actress. She soon became his wife and companion. A sincere passion for the arduous and complex art of filmmaking followed. Since 1929 - assistant director of VUFKU, Mosfilm and Kiev film studios. Since 1946 - director of the Mosfilm film studio. Assistant director, co-director, director - she has come all this way, but her star has not disappeared with a change of profession. As a co-director, she participated in the creation of Shchors, Michurin and her husband's documentaries. And then there were "Yegor Bulychev" and other, already independent works. But her teacher remained an inspired artist, whose worldview, aesthetic and ethical views she shared and whom she followed in her art. The unexpected, so terrible for her death of Alexander Petrovich Dovzhenko in 1956 literally shocked her. She shook, but did not break. And she decides to stage, turn her husband's unrealized scenarios into films, recreate the artistic tapes he created in their original form, the main character of which has always been "a man born for good", collect and publish his literary creations. All subsequent years were devoted to solving these problems. From the walls of Mosfilm there are "Poem about the Sea", "The Tale of Fiery Years", "The Enchanted Desna" - based on Dovzhenko's scripts. Based on his war stories, notes and notes, she creates the film "Unforgettable" and the film "Golden Gate" dedicated to his memory. And they are followed by "Such high mountains" and "The world in three dimensions." And each of these works is distinguished by the problems of time, an epic beginning, love for nature, for living life, pride in the creations of human hands, civic pathos, author's courage. In the same years, the Art Publishing House published a collection of works by A. P. Dovzhenko prepared by her. She worked with all passion and spirituality, as a person of great talent, perseverance, strong will, a courageous and inspired master. Such a bright star of our cinema will remain in the history of Soviet cinema and in the memory of the audience. For the film "The World in Three Dimensions" she was awarded the AP Dovzhenko Gold Medal (1980), was awarded the Golden Lion Medal of St. Mark (1975) for her participation in the design of the book-film "Earth".
