People's Artist of the Soviet Union Mikhail Astangov came to this world on November 3, 1900 in the city of Warsaw, now the Republic of Poland. The future actor was born into a family of ordinary workers under the name Ruzhnikov. His dad held a position at a railway junction. After graduating from high school, Mikhail applied for the legal department at Moscow University and successfully passed the selection. In parallel with his studies, Astangov participated in amateur performances, while taking lessons in theatrical skills from actress Anna Matveeva.
