Born January 17, 1956 in Latona (Bedfordshire, England). He was the second child in the family, the eldest was his brother Mark, and the youngest was his sister Joanna. Already in childhood, the boy began to take an interest in music, learned to play the piano, and then the guitar. After leaving school, he worked with his father at the local branch of the Vauxhall Motors car factory, and at night he played bass in various musical groups, dreaming that one day he would become a singer himself. It was a time of compromises for Paul, as his favorite musical style was soul, which was not very popular at the time in England. Soon he was invited as a soloist to the local band Kat Kool & The Kool Kats, later better known as Streetband.
